teeth

Question:

Ok Please don’t take this wrong you gotta think a bit. Look in the mirror at the tooth see the ghost tooth behind it say mirror mirror on the wall who’s the fairest of them all./grin JD

Response:

Yoga has got poses for so many illnesses, yet I don’t know of any pose that treats toothaches and decays, possibly because the Indians have few tooth problems (according to my Indian friends, that’s because they wash their teeth after every meal, at the same time as they are washing their hands). Still, I wonder if anyone know of any asanas or pranayama practices that will benefit teeth? The only one I can think of is maybe the Lion pose. Nee Sung

Response:

Dear Nee Sung, I suspect the kriyas may help you here.  The cooling breath (Shitali?) may invigorate the gums, and Jala Neti may help as I have found it helps my teeth when they are sensitive due to sinusitis.  Any inversions should surely help merely by getting blood flow to the gums which in turn my strengthen the roots of the teeth. The lion pose is excellent I think for oral hygiene; but mainly for the throat, tongue and mouth.  I suspect the benefits to the teeth are a knock-on or spin-off of getting blood to the gums….Any other comments – these are merely my thoughts based on observation. With respect, Darius
