Infection from Irrigation?
Question:
I just received my new water pik and irrigation applicator, but I am concerned that, now that I have finally gotten over six weeks of sinusitis, I might introduce new bacteria or other pathogens into my sinuses. Has anyone ever gotten an infection from irrigating the sinuses? Lynn

Has anyone ever gotten an infection from irrigating the : sinuses? Sure…you just need to keep your equipment and solutions as clean as possible. Like use bottled distilled water and boil it. Sterilize plastic bottles, utensils…flush your water-pic with a bleach solution from time to time. I think you gotta let things get pretty cruddy before you will introduce an infection. For sure don’t share solution or equipment with anyone else. I’ve been irrigating for at least 10 years and _may_ have picked up an infection once. Probably just got too casual about keeping things sterile. …Lou — – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - lou vincenti lvinc…@fix.net – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – -

If I do not boil the water I use for irrigation, I will usually pick up an infection, so be diligent about that.
