Anti-Dracula diet week 2

Question:

Well, I’m still having garlic, onions, veggies, and pasta sauce for meal 5 (dinner to most of you). I’ve increased the garlic to a full bulb (about 10 cloves).  I use an onion about fist-sized. Also 8 oz of pasta sauce, 8 oz of Fiesta blend mixed veggies, about 6 oz of fresh spinach. I’ve added spices: oregano, parsley, pepper, a little salt, and bay leaves. I cook the garlic and onions for 4 minutes under medium (3 on electric oven).  Smell?  Well, the next morning there is a faint garlic smell from my pores.  Bowel problems from the added Fiber?  Yes, for the first few days but resolved now. The problem was hard stools. Benefits?  My blood pressure seems to be a bit lower. My sinusitis is definitely improved.  Sorry to say I don’t have the intense dreams I had at first. Super foods : onions, garlic, spinach, tomato paste, beans, broccoli – all in one meal.  Believe it or not, I’m hungry about 1 1/2 hours later for my final meal (meal 6).

You know, I think I may have posted this once before, but I had a boss that went on a garlic kick and ended up smelling terrible….I could tell when he walked into the office.  The smell wasn’t just his breath….he oozed it out of every pore.  Please think of those around you…it really does smell gross.  Can’t you just buy garlic pills????  Elise

Garlic pills will have the exact same effect on breath, and won’t taste as good as actual garlic ;) Part of garlic is not eliminated through stools and urine, but through water exchange from the body : breath and sudation. So yes, it does actually ooze from the pore. And if there is actually any garlic in the garlic pills, the problem will be the same with less gustative pleasure. Solutions? – Have everyone eat garlic. Really. You don’t notice the smell when everyone ate some. That’s why it’s not a problem in areas where it is part of the natural regime. So, invite everyone to an Italian, French or Asiatic restaurant at noon ;) Or go live in an Italian part of your city. – Remove the germ from the clove (splitting it in two, if there is a germ, you will see it as greenish). The germ is the part that is really hard to digest. This should improve bowel comfort. Also, garlic is hard to digest raw, so always use it cooked. You can drop the cloves in boiling water for a few seconds. If you do both, digestion will be a whole lot easier. I can stomach raw germinated garlic, but I have no problem if I prepare it this way. And if you digest it well, part of the smell problem will go, not to mention much improved post-prandial comfort. – Don’t overdo it ;) Excess in anything is a fault. Instead of eating a huge amount of garlic every once in a while, just make some of it part of your regular meals. Many cooking styles include garlic as part of the preparation : French, Italian, Asiatic, North African… The best thing about garlic is its taste after all ;)

Raw garlic can do that, even one clove.  So far I seem to be okay smell-wise with my cooked garlic and onions.  Curiously I have a onion-garlic taste in my mouth all the time – not that pleasant. Maybe my appetite will go down. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – You know, I think I may have posted this once before, but I had a boss that went on a garlic kick and ended up smelling terrible….I could tell when he walked into the office.  The smell wasn’t just his breath….he oozed it out of every pore.  Please think of those around you…it really does smell gross.  Can’t you just buy garlic pills????  Elise I also fried about 1.5 lbs of garlic last night, will eat some tonight. What a superfood. I will have a birthday party tomorrow, hopefully there won’t be any smell. About 14 ppl are coming. i

Agree. There was a seller in my company and you could tell when he was around. And he was on garlic pills. Then a secretary started this garlic thing and everybody reacted even worse, because as a secretary she was around all day.
