I think the mucous can get locked up in the sinuses and won’t drain.  Thus the reason to drink lots of water and use guaifenesin to thin. Technically, woudn’t sinusITIS mean "inflammation"?  Not necessarily infection, tho’ it seems to go together alot. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->"Byron Hinson" <by…@activeie.com> >Date: Sat, 17 July 1999 10:19 AM EDT wrote:> >I have all of those symptoms and my doctor believe I have sinusitis and >has >put me on Doxycycline capsules (Until Wednesday) which I pray will clear >up >my problems. Hi I am 40 Years of age, have suffered headaches for about 20 years over the past 4 or 5 years they have got much worse. I get the pain behind my eyes and for the last few the pain is also in my nose probably starting about 1" or a bit more inside, and cause’s pain when I breath. I have been to my doctor lots of times he now says its an allergy, I went to see a ENT specialist and he operated on me, I am not sure what he did he straightened the central bit that runs between my nostrils (please excuse me but I am not familiar with technical terms) and made more room for me to breath, and says my sinus are okay. I have been back to see him a few times since the operation and he says I am fine and he can do no more. But I still have the pain and misery of having to live every day with my headaches. I recently went to see my doctor about a fungal infection on my feet, (in between my smaller toes and my toe nails which are very thick broken and greeny in colour Yuck!) which I have also lived with for 20 years. He asked me to trim some of the nail and he would get it tested and give me something for it, but two weeks later it came back negative. So I have kind of lost faith in my doctors lately, is there any chance I could have some kind of fungal infection in my nasal tubes, my doctor says there is no such thing. I have tried everything I can think of to avoid allergies, diets, dust mites and the rest. it just never lets up unless I take pain killers which I try to avoid. I tried various spray, my nasals must be so sensitive they make my nose bleed when I blow it and the pain gets worse. Any ideas would be nice thanks Please reply to         m.fl…@virgin.net

Even my ENT who is the head of a major teaching university admits you can get yeast in your sinuses even with a negative culture.  You should get another opinion, for your feet too.  Read sinus survival.com and sinuses.com for some information.  Treating athlete’s foot takes a couple of months of strong antifungal medications. Yes to all of the above > THIRSTY > ecpecially at night time in bed?

All the time > are these sinus problems.

I’m no doctor so I couldn’t tell you that.  But I do associate these symptoms with my sinus problems.

Response:

I got many of thse syptoms.  They can be made worse by different antibiotics as well.  Sinusitis can cause these things.  read sinuses.com Carol – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Julie M Devjak wrote: > Hi > does anyone with sinus get dizzy, light headed, floating feeling in the > eyes, vertigo and feel like they are going to vomit or do so, THIRSTY > ecpecially at night time in bed? Shop carefully for an INT doctor–they are not all the same. Some do fine jobs, others are butchers. After surgery, some stay with you and pursue your problems, others look in there, say everything’s clear and send you on your way. Next!     I recently found an ENT doctor who practiced at Mayo for five years. The guy is fantastic and is doing way more than the previous three. I’m not sure the Mayo stamp is a guarantee–just my experience. There seems a higher level of professionalism.

I have been dealing with a case of sinusitis for 5 weeks now and have been off of work for almost the entire time.  My biggest problem is lightheadedness, dizziness, feeling like I’m going to pass out and a constant pressure in my ears.   I am now working with a new ENT who seems much more thorough than the last one.  He told me this thing usually runs a course of at least 6 weeks.  I’m hoping he’s right and that I’m almost finished. Ellen in IL

Response:

Wow, somebody else going through the same thing.  And, I thought I was the only one.   Have you been able to work or go about your normal duties each day? I have been missing a lot of work and other social functions during the last month.  I feel very frustrated also and hope this will end soon. Ellen in IL

Response:

I couldn’t agree with you more. I am now on my second ENT.  I would have gone to him first, but he is almost 2 hours away and I took the first referral my doctor gave me.  This new ENT is actually a long-time friend of the family so I trust him much more. Visited him yesterday and he was much more thorough and detailed than the other Dr.  It pays to shop around if you don’t think you are getting the right treatment. Ellen in IL

Response:

Maybe I missed something, but I sure hope they are treating you for this.  THey don’t just usually go away! Julie,   I have the same symptoms.  Had surgery two years ago.  Did not help much.

Response:

I have all of those symptoms and my doctor believe I have sinusitis and has put me on Doxycycline capsules (Until Wednesday) which I pray will clear up my problems. The only worry I have been having is that I have no signs of any mucus in my nose at the moment (Does this sometimes happen?), just really bad headaches and pain around above and around the eyes and cheeks. — Byron Hinson Microsoft MVP ActiveWindows – http://www.activewin.com Homepage – http://www.activewin.com/byron Julie M Devjak <jae…@bigpond.com> wrote in message news:4Ufe3.18170$PN5.46638@newsfeeds.bigpond.com… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Hi > does anyone with sinus get dizzy, light headed, floating feeling in the > eyes, vertigo and feel like they are going to vomit or do so, THIRSTY > ecpecially at night time in bed? Response:

Yes, even with no signs of mucus in your nose you still could very well have sinusitis. Byron Hinson <by…@activeie.com> wrote in message
