Sinusitis, how does it onset?
Question:
Jeff – I would suggest that you have a culture done of your sinuses to see what bacteria you are dealing with – my sinus problems started out like yours now fifteen years later I have big sinus problems Oh a sinus culture is painless

Hi, I am an 18 yr old guy who is just having a heck of a time lately with what i believe is some sinus problems. I’ve had allergies my whole life (nothing major just high grade hayfever, etc) i’ve been on allergy shots for about 3 years and then i discontinued them since I was on max desensitization and only going about every 3 months for "boosters". Every time I can ever recall getting sick my entire life always starts out with a stuffy nose and then sometimes it will clear up and other times it will turn into bronchitis if i wait too long and dont go to the doctor. For the last years I can remember I get sick once, maybe twice a year, no more. Usually bad bronchitis once a year unless i make a visit to the doc early on when i notice the symtoms. Since last novemeber I started getting consistant dizzy spells, not vertigo, but feeling of being unbalanced, never had that before, but I am a noted hypocondriact so I wait, and wait, finally in decemeber I visit the doc. He says I have an ear infection, take 14 days of zithromax, except I have no other symtoms of anything except the dizzyness, but I do have pressure in my sinsuses and on a side note the doctor says, by the way if this gets any worse let me know and we will do a brain MRI to make sure you dont have anything major going on. So from that point on I cant sleep so I get the MRI done and its clear, except for small amounts of mucus in the sinuses (clearing of a sinus infection). I also had full blood work done, basically normal except slightly low potassium and low blood sugar (67!) the doctor suggests I go back for a check for hypoglicemia and I never do since I near pass out when they draw blood and I just dont think thats it, plus my family has a history of low blood sugar my dad usually has around a 70-75 and same with my grandmother, plus my symtoms dont improve when i bring my blood sugar up. So i get a little better, not so dizzy, just a little and continue living. Now in march (3 months later) I get a bad sinus infection, real plugged, colored mucus, post nasal drip, the works. So I promptly go to the doctor says I have sinusitis and gives me 5 days of zithromax and some claritin-d. Get better and no more dizzyness, I thought I beat it, i’d been great for about 2 months. So now I am here with no symtoms except dizzyness and pressure between my eyes, which seems to be the linking factor, when i get the pressure i get the dizzyness, etc. This just recently started about a week ago, its tolerable, but an inconvience. I really dont want to be put back on more antibiotics, but whats left except sinus surgery? I need to go see an ENT, which my allergist is, but I am wondering.. I had the MRI, if I was having severe sinus problems wouldn’t it have shown up on that? What other options do I have? My nose is not stuffed, I have clear mucus (but alot of it), it feels like my sinses between my eyes are where the pressure is at, I am taking some perscription Guafenisin that i have left over from december, without any success. So life just sucks lately, any experiences, ideas, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Jeff Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
