Infection after surgery

Question:

I had FESS four weeks ago (septoplasty, polyps removed, the maxillary job, and an ethmoidectomy). The whole point was that the 12-month infection would go away and I could stop taking antibiotics.
I was starting to feel really good, much more energetic, breathing great on the left side and so-so on the right.
But I went for a check up a few days ago and my ENT said it looked like I still have an infection and he put me back on Zithromax (for the 3rd time in 6 weeks).
I hadn’t felt sick at all, but since he told me about the infection, I notice all the symptoms. I’m afraid that I’m going to worry myself back into bad health.
Is it normal to get another infection or hold an infection after surgery?    -**** Posted from RemarQ, http://www.remarq.com/?a ****-  Search and Read Usenet Discussions in your Browser – FREE –

Nosocomial infections seem to be on the increase. I would advise anyone who is having surgery to check that whoever examines you has washed their hands first. Unfortunately consultants are the worse culprits as far as hand-washing goes as proved when cameras were sited, without knowledge above sinks as part of a large hospital infection survey.
