They can potentially but need to be competently planned. >3. When will it all just go away?
You cannot count on that – see an otolaryngologist specializing in sinuses. >4. Why did it happen to me?
Many reasons are possible – allergies, anatomy, etc. >5. What can claritin do for me?
Depending on the nature of your sinusitis, it might be very counterproductive and even prolong the sinusitis, since it dries things out and can limit drainage of infected mucous. See the FAQ for more information.

Thank you for the answer but if I dont have allergy problems, do you think I should be taking claritin?

Well it can have value for non-allergic as well as allergic rhinitis. But I think it is risky to take for sinusitis because it tends to dry out any infection "in place." In other words, no. But I would see an otolaryngologist.

Your throat might hurt because it is raw from the drainage from your sinuses. Also, if your nasal passages are stuffy, making you have to breathe through your mouth, you may be drying out your throat. That can make it hurt more. > 2. Can antibiotics help me?
If you have a sinus "infection", then yes, they would probably help you. If you have swollen nasal passages or swollen sinus openings due to allergy or non-allergic rhinitis, you would probably have to address these issues as well. > 3. When will it all just go away?
That’s hard to answer. Depends on how heathy you are and what kind of steps you take to help yourself. > 4. Why did it happen to me?
Don’t know why it happened to you. Perhaps you’ve been under lots of stress that has broken down your body’s ability to deal with infections. Maybe you have allergies to something in your environment that are continuing to exacerbate the situation. Maybe you have young children bringing home infections from day care. Lots of people get sinus infections. > 5. What can claritin do for me?
Claritin is for allergies. If you have allergy problem, this may be able to help your nasal passages not react/swell so much. In turn, your sinus openings may then stay open — this allows your sinuses to drain instead of closing off and causing headaches and encouraging infection.
