Help for my dad

Question:

Hi!  This is a type of last resort, but my poor father (73) is desperate. About three years ago, he started having headaches.  Not migraine types, more like sinus headaches; pressure in the forehead, etc.  Accompanying these (and perhaps more frustrating) is a strange vision problem–a haziness, like a steamed-up window affecting his sight.  His eyes also have a strange, continuous pulsation.  He’s been to opthamologists, neurologists, and numerous physicians with no result.  According to the tests, (MRIs, CATscans, numerous x-rays and vision screenings), there is absolutely nothing wrong with him; his sinuses, his eyes, his arteries–anything.  He has been prescribed countless medications with no help–currently, he’s taking Neurotonin, prior to that, Diazepan.  He’s said that Valium will calm the pulsation.  If nothing else, he’d at least like to know what it is he’s fighting with! Please, if anyone has any ideas, send them along; he’s really getting down about the "non-diagnosis"– maybe someone’s had headaches/hazy vision problems, too and can help. Thanks so much! Hi, I don’t know if this will help – but I’ve heard of some people getting help from eliminating certain foods (citrus). Also, I’ve seen this thing sold in my allergy catalog that is like a band that goes around the head and holds onto some things hitting on pressure points. Sort of like accupressure. They say it really works. If you are interested – I’ll be happy to give you the name of the the item. Last but not least – I’ve heard of some folks getting relief from anti-depressants. I surely hope you father feels better soon! Hi Dee!  Sorry about your Dad. One thing you might get him to try is nasal irrigation.  If he is suffering from sinusitis or allergies, this will help, and certiainly won’t hurt. The best way to achieve this is to go the whole 9 yards, but a waterpik machine and the special tip (a regular waterpik spray tip with a cork on the end to seal around the nostril).  We sufferers pump salt water in one nostril, and it exits out the other.  Do this once or twice a day and it might do the trick.  This has changed my entire life, after suffering for years, and many doses of antibiotics, etc. Learn more at: http://www.ent-consult.com/ In the near term, get him a bottle of nasal saline spray and get him to really flush those sinuses out. This stimulates the nasal cilia into doing their job of pushing out infection and allergens, and moistens throbbing sinuses. Best wishes, write back if you have any questions, just mikee. ………………………………… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -opr…@my-dejanews.com wrote: > Hi!  This is a type of last resort, but my poor father (73) is desperate. > About three years ago, he started having headaches.  Not migraine types, more > like sinus headaches; pressure in the forehead, etc.  Accompanying these (and > perhaps more frustrating) is a strange vision problem–a haziness, like a > steamed-up window affecting his sight.  His eyes also have a strange, > continuous pulsation.  He’s been to opthamologists, neurologists, and > numerous physicians with no result.  According to the tests, (MRIs, CATscans, > numerous x-rays and vision screenings), there is absolutely nothing wrong > with him; his sinuses, his eyes, his arteries–anything.  He has been > prescribed countless medications with no help–currently, he’s taking > Neurotonin, prior to that, Diazepan.  He’s said that Valium will calm the > pulsation.  If nothing else, he’d at least like to know what it is he’s

Sometimes this can come from the neck. It is easy to miss. It is useful to measure the pulsation. This can be done via an eye seal and an ear seal. Perhaps it has been done. If all else is negative, this may be a spasm of blood vessels condition and steps to reduce blood vessel spasm include gentle shower exercises to neck – see http://www.ent-consult.com and a slow release vasodilator. best wishes Murray Grossan, M.D. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Hi! If nothing else, he’d at least like to know what it is he’s > fighting with! > Please, if anyone has any ideas, send them along; he’s really getting down > about the "non-diagnosis"– maybe someone’s had headaches/hazy vision > problems, too and can help. > Thanks so much! > Dee > —–== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==—– > http://www.dejanews.com/   Now offering spam-free web-based newsreading

Hi, and your father has my sympathy.  I suffer from sinus pressure AND migraine type headaches triggered by pollen allergies.   I don’t have the vision problem, but I get numb down my right side.     I have found in the past, that the regular injections has helped control the headaches. This year is an abnormally bad one – pollen in our part of the country is sky high.     You may want to take him to an allergist for the skin testing to see if this is a problem. I noticed someone else mentioned the irrigator.  I am trying this, and do get some degree of relief.     Good luck in your search.
