Why not? Neuros really don’t believe any more it causes exaccerbations. And getting the flu is one of the worst things that can happen to someone with ms. I get one every year. Had pneumonia vaccine too. Kathi

Right. Your reaction to the flu shot sounds intense (and unusual), but as you said, feeling like shit for 2 or 3 days is better than getting the flu, a fever, and being down for two-three weeks and then maybe having an exaccerbation or perhaps pneumonia. And the shot does NOT give you the flu, despite fokelore. Kathi
Response:
It was after having my first and only flu shot that I had the worst exacerbation — mildly ill for about a month after the shot, just didn’t feel quite right, and then a slide, then a big crash which lasted for months. I just wouldn’t risk it again. I’ll take my chances with maybe getting the flu, and then maybe having the flu cause an exacerbation. — Meg KaMatthews <kamatth…@aol.com> wrote in message

I’ve been on Copaxone for almost 10 months and have not ‘caught’ any bugs. I also had a flu shot and noticed no problems with it. Guess it’s different for everyone like everything. Micky B/Memphis
Response:
Yes, I am on Copaxone also. I have not been sick. Everyone around me has had colds and flus. I have remained healthy…for me that is a miracle. I use to visit the doctor’s office monthly for bronchitis or sinusitis. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Tammy wrote: > Hi all, > Anybody on Copaxone notice a change in their immune systems, for better or > worse? Hi all, Anybody on Copaxone notice a change in their immune systems, for better or worse? I’ve been on almost 5 months now and while I’ve caught a few colds (I work in a school plus I have a small child, so germs are a given!), I haven’t had to run to the dr for antibiotics every single time like I used to. Every cold used to either become a sinus infection or bronchitis, no matter what self-care measures I took. Now, rest and fluids do the trick. Is it a coincidence or has anyone else had the same experience? Tammy — A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking. Martin H. Fischer
Response:
Tammy — I’ve been taking Copaxone for two years, and have noticed that I’m more likely to catch the latest bug. The plus, though, is that when I used to get a cold, I would promptly relapse. Now I just enjoy the cold, and then move on with my life, fingers crossed. Last fall I got chicken pox (for the third time in my life — I don’t know WHAT that’s about!) and held my breath for the ax to fall. It didn’t fall. Still, you wouldn’t catch me in line for a flu shot. In the meantime…a bus full of kids? Like, every day? Egads wears me out just thinking about it! Hi, Tammy, it sounds to me like just the MS forgetting to attack YOU and do its job right for a change! –I’ve been on Copaxone for almost a year, and didn’t notice any change in number of colds, etc. (I used to be a substitute teacher, and I hear ya about the germs! The only thing that seemed to help at all was to dash into the restroom every chance I got, and wash my DRY hands! I could’ve kept Jergen’s lotion in business!) I just had my second virus in 3-4 years. Must be a pretty tough one! Ha! Perhaps not, but for a couple of days after mine, I get REALLY sick, and I can’t function at all. My vision, balance, sensation and leg function are all TOTALLY out of whack. > And getting the flu is one of the worst things that can happen to someone with > ms. > I get one every year.
Me too. I’ll put up with a couple of days of being a complete wreck if it will save me developing a whole new crop of symptoms. I haven’t even gotten used to the ones I already have! #:^> — ((((((((((U)))))))))) Michael <muirh…@island.net> -= | Livin’ on Island Time | =-
