Tyramine question
Question:
I have been seeing a health practioner/chiropractor for close to a year now. He started out helping my stomach problems (yeast, and i can no longer take nsaids). Now that that is under control, he is trying to help with my migraines. I easily get weather headaches.. any significant change in the barometric pressure. Sometimes it is sinus, sometimes migraines.. From what i’ve read, about everyone on here knows exactly what i’m talking about. My last appt with him, he checked my tyramine level. It was below normal. He most of his migraine patients do have a low. He gave me Tyramine drops to take everyday. So far so good. The only pain that i have had is a bit of tension feeling in my neck last night.. could have been the weather, or the position i was laying on the couch. For a week i haven’t had any type of sinus pain. The true test will be in about 10 days when my cycle starts. For the last month (before the tyramine) i was experiencing some sort of headache pain or migraine 4-5 days out of a week. I’ve tried searching for the tyramine online, but can only find it relating to tyramine containing foods–the trigger foods that most migraine sufferers avoid. Has anyone ever heard of this? Tracey below is a link to what my doctor does http://www.healthy.net/aaabem/EAV/eavexplained.htm

I did see something about the tyramine thing when I was reading up on my sulfite allergy. I don’t seem to have any problems with that though. Good for you that you have a good practitioner…they can be hard to find. Michelle

I still go to my family doc too. They give me the imitrex nasal spray and some darvocet. So far the nasal spray is the only thing that will get rid of or suppress a bad migrane. It really sucks not being able to take any type of nsaid! First they took the ppa off the market, then i couldnt’ tolerate nsaids anymore. Since i was able to get my imitrex thru our mail order, i have them stashed every where. I checked out the sulfite allergy (i’m allergic to sulfa), which i think i’m ok on. I do know that i’m allergic to seafood.. not sure if it is the iodine or what. One day I could no longer eat the stuffed shrimp my mother brought home. It takes a few hours, but i get a migraine until i get sick. I can eat freshwater fish though.. It isn’t the kind of thing you want to test Tracey – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I did see something about the tyramine thing when I was reading up on my sulfite allergy.
