CPAP pressure/ sinus discomfort or lousy sleep!

Question:

Is there a chance that air is leaking from your mask? Have you started mouth breathing? Both are hard to check when you’re asleep… What shape is your mask in? Hope you’re feeling better soon. Dave (been there) "Susan Wachob" <su…@swachob.com> wrote in message

I’ve been on CPAP for more than 10 years. I had been at 12 for years but because I lost a bunch of weight, they did another polysomnography in March and decreased the pressure in early May to 10. All seemed fine til mid-July. Then I began having all the pre-Cpap symptoms I used to have- but especially that groggy head/burning brain/can’t focus/exhausted feeling. After a period of time, I recognized that it was the pre-CPAP feeling. So I called the doctor desperately when I was at my wits end on Thursday and they got the respiratory therapist to raise it. It does seem to have solved the problem about my pre-CPAP feelings, but now my sinuses really hurt in the morning from the additional pressure- which was one of the reasons I wanted to find out if they could lower it in the first place. So- (finally) I have 2 questions: 1) Why would the lower pressure be fine for over two months and suddenly not- especially when they said in the lab that I did fine at 10? 2) What do I do about the sinus pain? I have a heated humidifier turned up pretty high so I’m not drying out. HELP!!! Thanks- Susan
