Karo Syrup

Question:

I kinda did a , "Huh?", when I read about using Karo syrup in sinus washes. I use a Neti pot. I am doctoring for a sinus infection right now that MY HUSBAND GAVE ME with Suprex. It is working fine. I am going on a low carb diet. Think the Karo will screw it up? Also is using Karo good on a daily basis?? Linda

Response:

I also read about using Neti pots for nasal irrigation and am curios on how effective they are.  Can you please let me know what luck you have.  Also, has anyone else tried Neti Pots?  What were the results? ———- In article <369A0FDA.34B4A…@earthlink.net>, Linda Dachtyl – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -<lindal…@earthlink.net> wrote: >I kinda did a , "Huh?", when I read about using Karo syrup in sinus >washes. >I use a Neti pot. I did not think that one could "catch" a sinus infection from someone else.  I know it is possible to catch colds from others – but sinus infections? Dr. Grossan, what say you? The Neti pot is good for beginning nose washers. The absoloute BEST method of cleansing ths sinuses is the water pik/Grossan tip, in my opinion.  But it can be tricky to get the hang of it and the water pik needs to be maintained and it is more trouble than the Neti.  So depending on how severe your sinus problems are, you may want to start with the Neti and once you see how wonderfully soothing and refreshing salt water is in the nose, you can progress on to the water pik/Grossan tip. I say that to people so they will not get discouraged and give up on nosewashing. Some years ago the doctor told me, "You have a sinus infection."  Had not had one before and over the years many people had told me, "I’m not contagious, I have a sinus infection."  So I asked the doctor, "Am I contagious?"  He said, "Yes."  I asked him the difference between a cold and a sinus infection.  He said, "A sinus infection is more sophisticated than a cold."  How about that! A sophisticated infection – what’s this world coming to? Janice

When I first learned about the Grossan tip, went out and bought it.  The clerk at the pharmacy said he uses it, that I’ll be shocked the stuff that comes out of my nose. I was really excited to think I had found a solution to 8 year old chronic condition, however, nothing comes out of my nose and I believe I am using it correctly.  Have tried it many times.  Finding the correct amount of salt for my nose took a little time, but am still waiting for this great clearing that never has happened.  Any advice? I have given up using the tip for these reasons.  Robin
