Great article there on emedicine, Dr. Grossan! I recommended it to a singer friend who’s been frustrated with sinus problems. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -entcons…@aol.com (ENTconsult) wrote in message <news:20020704174601.08538.00002986@mb-cu.aol.com>… > there are at least 100 articles in the medical literature with this > information. Of course, those are centers which (generally) offer a very high caliber of sinus surgery. Actually these are centers that take care of the very difficult cases. Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com http://www.TinnitusRelief.net http://www.emedicine.com/ent/topic516.htm

Of course, those are centers which (generally) offer a very high caliber of sinus surgery. One is going to need to go to such a place if you want to get those odds. Not all places are even up to date on procedures. We have had several reports in this newsgroup of doctors performing procedures that are now generally regarded as obsolete (including (1) antral windows (2) removal of sinus lining and (3) total removal of turbinate). So choose your surgeon wisely!

The Henry Ford Hospital and UPenn jointly did an 8-year followup study of FESS patients to see outcomes. They found that some 70% of those FESS patients were cured of their chronic sinusitis. The study was published in March 1997. — Steven D. Litvintchouk Email: sdlit…@earthlink.net

there are at least 100 articles in the medical literature with this information. Go to medline and list sinus surgery. Results and details of sinus surgery are practically in each issue of the various ENT magazines of which there are a dozen or more. Are there any studies which have demonstrated the efficacy of surgery in treating sinusitis? Thus is a possible option for me, but I’d like to know if there is more than anecdotal evidence. Neil
