It is a sulfa antibiotic, better known as Bactrim or Septra. > When the infection and sympotom (plugged nose and head pains) went away I > kinda stopped the medication before I was done. Now it is back but the head > pain is at the back of the head.
You shouldn’t stop an antibiotic before it is done, unless there are problems, etc.You don’t stop them as soon as you get some symptom relief.

Okay folks, here you go. My last post told of how I was taking Bactrim and feeling somewhat optomistic. Not the case. The most I got out of the Bactrim was a case of thrush (yeast infection in mouth (fungal) – ugh) Thursday I discovered Colloidal Silver and Stabilized Oxygen and went to the health food store and bought same. After work I also got a script filled for the thrush (nystatin) Later that evening, a deposit of infection came out of post nasal drip. Yesterday, I cannot begin to describe what was literally falling out of my head at about 2 to 4 hour intervals – great deposits of what appeared to be puss-like infection. What an f-n relief! I suspected my infection (which was diagnosed as chronic sinusitis after cat scan) to be fungal. I am still not positive but I am treating it as such. Over the last four months I have been on various antibiotics and the guaifenisin to no avail. I have an ENT appointment next week and it would please me to tell him it is not necessary for him to invade my sinuses. So here’s the deal. If you have been taking antibiotics, at least be replacing your body with the good bacteria (acidophilus). Investigate Colloidal Silver or other homeopathic anti-fungal/resistant bacteria or virus treatment. I also had the notion that if I could just ‘oxidize’ this crap, I could get rid of it that way. I have incorporated Dr. Lamar’s Stabilized Oxygen (nascent oxygen). Also essential, taken from "Prescription for Nutritional Healing": NO SUGAR – fungus thrive on it! Acidophilus – supplies friendly bacteria Garlic Capsules – neutralizes most fungi Aerobic 07 – destroys unanted bacteria and increases tissue oxygenation B Complex – needed for correct balance of bacteria (also good for energy) (Vitamin E, Zinc, Amino Acids, Vitamin A) This is just a synopsis to help you in your research. I wish you all the very best and I will post again in a few days to give an update of my condition. Thank you. Hi Brad. The medication you are taking is also known as Septra DS (double strength) or Bactrim. It is a sulfa drug. From what I understand, it is often given for sinus infections. You are correct in assuming you went off the medication too soon. Are you feeling better though, since you restarted it??? Call your physician and tell him or her what you did (believe me, they won’t be surprised, it happens a lot), and let them determine if they should give you more so you get a full course this time, and do not stop taking it just because you feel better. You need the full course to kill all of the bacteria (or at least most of them), and if you don’t take a full course, the few that are left, will multiply. Prolonged use…. hmmm. Many people take long courses of antibiotics without problems. It is somewhat common to order a long course with sinusitis. Call your doctor if you develop a problem, they can switch you to something else. Antibiotics do not remove yeast, they actually encourage its growth. Something like this…. You have "good bacteria" in your body, which "eat" yeast. When you are on antibiotics, both the good and the bad bacteria are killed. Hence, you develop a yeast infection, because there is no good bacteria to keep the yeast in check. (Note, not everyone gets yeast infections from antibiotics) Some physicians suggest eating yogurt to replace the "good" bacteria ( make sure it contains "live cultures") or else, unless contraindicated, you can find acidophilus/lactobacillus capsules at the health food stores. There are also other things you can do to help ease the pain and promote drainage, such as taking a decongestant (without an antihistamine), etc. A good website is: http://www.sinuses.com/ Good luck! shelly Brad Turner <btur…@uniserve.com> wrote in message

Does anyone know of Cotrimoxazole DS NOP? It is what I have been taking for almost a full month now. When the infection and sympotom (plugged nose and head pains) went away I kinda stopped the medication before I was done. Now it is back but the head pain is at the back of the head. Of course I went back on the medication as the over the counter stuff does nothing for the pain and pressure. Who knows of stronger medication in antibiotic form but not going to IV Antibiotics? I guess I screwed up by stopping the medication early. I won’t do that. But this is the second occurance. Does anyone also know of the side effects of prolonged use of Antibiotics to fight this disease? I heard that Antibiotics remove the natural yeast in your body. Is this true? Any help would be appreciate. Thanks.
