Herbal recipe?

Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Merry Meet, I’ve been sick for over 2 weeks now and I was wondering if anyone has a good herbal recipe for relieving a *nasty* sinus problem? Hello all, Herbal remedies can bring relief, but it also helps to avoid mucous- forming foods such as milk, eggs and cheese. My chronic sinusitis cleared up when I became a vegan. Best wishes — Liz Hanson

MM  Another thing I’ve used, since I have problems with Hayfever, is to use the Eucalyptus along with Peppermint.  Eucalyptus opens you up and the peppermint goes down deep into the lungs.  Use the comfrey as you feel best.  The oils are too strong on the skin if used in a bath, so be careful. I have used Comfrey as an expectorant.  With good results.  But, that won’t clear any new congestion.  Just get you clearing it out. Try hot water and Eucalytus Oil with a towel over your head.  Placed over the pot of water to inhale the steam.  this is aslo a good way to deliver the comfrey as well. Good luck, Puddles

as requested, cc’d to e-mail: Merry Meet, I’ve been sick for over 2 weeks now and I was wondering if anyone has a good herbal recipe for relieving a *nasty* sinus problem? I found a great cough medicine in one of my books, but there was nothing on sinus congestion. If you can, could you e-mail it to me?  I can’t get to the Usenet as often as I’d like to.  Any and all help appreicated.

Try some ‘Wassail" This can be made in any quantity.  I usually make 2 gallons and then store it because my family loves it both hot and cold, but you can make it a cup at a time as well. 1 part orange juice 1 part pineapple juice 2 parts apple cider lemon juice to taste (optional- honey or brown sugar to taste) if making a large batch, make a ‘mulling bag’ with the following spices (to taste… amounts in parenthasis are recommended for 2 gallons of punch): (6-8) cinnamon sticks (2-3) whole nutmeg (a small handful) of whole allspice (a small handful) of whole cloves ginger if desired to taste. Bring cider to a boil in a large pot.  Reduce heat to simmer and add the citrus juices.  *Do not bring to a boil after adding the citrus juice, it will cause foam to rise to the top*.  Add mulling spices and mull for 2-3 hours or until the smell gets to you!  Remove mulling bag and serve hot as a cold remedy.  Punch may be stored cold for several weeks. To fix one or two servings at a time: Substitue ground spices for the mulling bag. Combine all juices in a microwave cup or bowl or in a saucepan. Microwave or heat on the stove until hot but not boiling. In both cases, enjoy the steam, it is also medicinal! The microwave version is not as effective, but it is just as enjoyable. Oh!  and if you believe in magick ;-) , remember to mix your _intent_ to be well into the punch as you prepare it.
