Chronic sinusitis and loss of taste and smell
Question:
Hello I have chronic sinusitis and often lose my sense of taste and smell. Can anyone offer some relief from this problem? Thanks, Julie
Response:
Julie, I can’t offer any relief, but I know how you feel. I have had sinusitus off and on for years, and lost my sense of smell many years ago. Occasionally I do have a slight smell of something, like freshly opened coffee, but normally small nothing. I’m sure it affects my taste of food. Gwen
Response:
P.S. the longer your sense of smell is blocked, the more chance that it won’t come back well. Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com http://www.TinnitusRelief.net http://www.emedicine.com/ent/topic516.htm
Response:
If there is swelling about the area of the organ of smell, you ability to smell will be impaired. In other words, for whatever reason, if your nose is plugged, you can’t smell things. treament is to clear the nasal condition that is causing your symptoms.
