Surgery to remove them. However, polyps are typically caused by allergies. Treat the allergies before removing the polyps or they’ll be back faster than you can say Arnold Schwarzenegger. I have found that a cortisone or depo-medrol injection followed by a medrol dose pack helps get the swelling down. This allows me to breathe better. Daily use of a steroid nasal inhaler such as Flonase or Beconase should give good results – if you use it regularly.

try acupuncture from a proven professional (preferably Chinese). 4 needles for half an hour and it CAN work wonders (after one treatment in my case – I haven’t had sinus since). Good luck

Brian ! I don’t suppose your an MD, but when I saw these words about sinus surgery — it hit part of my problem to a tee. To paraphrase you’ remove the polyps, but first take care of the allergies that likely caused the condition in the first place.’ I had sinus surgery for removal of polyps, and garbage from pasr infections. They removed the polyps, cleaned the sinus’s up real nice— fresh baby skin. In 3 weeks I was worse than I ever had been—– congestion, turned to dryness. Surgeon then tested me for allergies—— I had all the usual, some with greater intensity. The fresh baby skin had a playfield. Allergies went wild— result after 3 yrs—– chronic sinusitis, rhinitis(sp), sinus tissue that is so dry it absorbs 2 bottles of OCean Spray at one sitting. My family doctor, surgeon, allergist —– say very little. To this day, no one has openly said —- they made a judgment error in not considering allergies. I am on total disability—income nice. But at 51, home alone(wifew orks, son is Freshman) I deal daily with the problem. Can’t go outside— humidity and warmth are non allergen triggers. Sometimes, I don’t know what avenue to follow. My quality of life is significantly reduced —- my son played baseball ‘ I could never sit in stands and watch him. Now its Football — I am going to try— but I will swell up. Doctors will use forms on Cortisone—– but only if they have to. My body does not tolerate it well. ‘TREAT THE ALLERGIES—THEN GET THE POLYPS’ ( A simple medical school principle) gxtw34a@ prodigy.com tmoo…@juno.com

Unfortunately the result of allergy management has not been great for nasal polyps. One very important thing is that any asprin or asprin related product may bring the polyps back. Control of polyps is not that difficult , please see management at http://www.ent-consult.com sounds like you have a different problem to be having so much difficulty.

Sounds like you are a good candidate for alternative healing. Herbs, homeopathy, vocal toning, chi gung, ion filters, air conditioning, nettie pot. What have you tried? Hey, has anyone ever made up a master list of all the possablilities for treatment? Bob Lusk Bob Lusk 61 Wurts Street Kingston, New York, 12401 (914) 338-8587 bobl…@aol.com
