Chronic polyps
Question:
I have had 17 nasal polypectomies, 16 of which were under general anesthesia, and the last one done with the laser with only a anesthetic spray in my nose. The difference is night and day. Don’t let some doctor tell you he can’t get them all out because he can’t see them. That’s what my old doctors told me. Went to the guy with the right equipment and he has a little camera he has in the nose while he does the laser surgery- he sees everything perfectly fine. The laser surgery involved no pain, no blood, no packing, and no recovery. It was wonderful!! and I jave’t had a bit of trouble since (it’s been about 6 months now). Jim ENTconsult wrote in message

I have verified Jim’s information. Tenet health systems offers this procedure, and as luck would have it, the procedure is preformed at a hospital right next to me. If you are interested check out this link. http://www.tenethealth.com/your_health/yh_sinlas.html Thanks Jim. JAMES M CHIMERA wrote in message

Your ENT is right, stop looking for other ways and do the general anasthesia thing. Wim. I am 30 and have your basic run-o-the-mill chronic sinusitis. I respond well to Nasalcort which keeps me breathing all year long w/out any allergy symptoms. With that said, I have had THREE surgeries in the last 12 years to remove polyps. Two in the last 5. And now after only EIGHT months I have another in my right side. My current ENT (12 year history) has always recommended general anesthesia for a full blown surgery on the premise that a local in-office type removal would not be effective since he would not be able to see all (if there are indeed more) of them. I am looking for an alternative to general anesthesia and full-blown surgery to remove polyps ( I JUST had surgery June ‘98). I have surfed the Web for information and have read in a few places that polyps can be removed with local anesthesia (even by a laser). I would like to hear from ANYONE who has had this type of local removal and if it has proven effective. I REALLY do not want to undergo surgery yet again within 12 months. Can anyone offer some advice?
