Blood from nose
Question:
Hi, I frequently have headaches around my eyes, swelling under and over my eyes, and sometimes have a little blood when I blow my nose in the morning. Does this sound like sinusitis? Thanks Bill B.

I think it sounds more like dry, irritated sinuses. If I don’t drink a decent amount of water and use a humidifier (steam seems to work best for me), I end up w/facial pain. (When I tell my husband my face hurts, he says, "well, it’s killing me, isn’t he funny!) June

Wash that stuff out of your nose. Blood, if not removed, will start to grow bacteria leading to infection, post nasal drip and finally to bronchitis. It is incredible to see the stuff when you irrigate your sunus passages but when you remove it, it will no longer rot inside your head. Fred>Hi,

Hi Bill, I have the same problem as you and have had for years. I recently started seeing an ENT Speicalist. I have several infections each year so finally got fed up and sought his help. The first visit he gave me an antibiotic and some other medications and nose sprays and told me to come back in six weeks. At the end of the six weeks I could not see much improvement and was still blowing a lot of blood from my nose. The second visit he changed my prescription to a different antibiotic and I am to return in four weeks. If there is no improvement he is going to send me for a CAT Scan to see what is going on and I’m afraid he will begin talking about surgery which I have heard is quite painful and is not permanent from what I have been told by a friend who has had the surgery several times. Anyway, the reason I am writing you is to give you the symptoms for Chronic Sinusitis which is what I have been diagnosed with and which may be your problem too. 1. Low grade fever (less than 101F) 2. Nasal congestion/nosebleed 3. Headaches 4. Chronic sore throat and cough 5. Poor, decreased, or absent sense of smell 6. Bad breath Here is a pretty informative link about Sinus problems and surgery that I found on the Net……. http://www.netdoor.com/entinfo/sinusaao.html Good luck and hope this helps, Patty
