Question:

hi craig ive had sinus problems for about 3 yrs now and ive had this type of mucus, its a bit like mozarella cheese, ive also had green and yellow mucus. i had full sinus surgery and i am still not better and suffer with a lot of head pressure too.  its a living nightmare and ive tried everything not sure what to do next.  my email is jackieread1…@aol.com if you want to write.  im near london, where are you in the world? best wishes, jackie

Response:

this is totally non-scientific, so take it for what it’s worth… but it is harmless in general… I have constant stuffiness in the morning and different color mucus at different times… but, recently, I tried loosing weight with the current fad diet here in the us, the all protein diets, which amounts to eliminating all carbohydrates for two weeks then eating only 50 grams of carbohydrates per day.. eliminating all sugar, milk, caffeine, alchohol and carbohydrates in general. basically eating only meat… this was remarkable for my breathing, this along with using another pillow to elevate my head a bit more, has virtually eliminated my morning stuffiness.. let me know if it works for you… "RdL429" <rdl…@aol.com> wrote in message

Have you tried allergy testing?

Response:

Sorry that this is kind of gross.  I’ve had sinus/dental/ear/eye problems for over a year now, with pain, burning, occasional chills, GI irritation, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.  Dentists and ENT Physicians aren’t sure what is causing the problem.  I’ve been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis, possibly a fractured tooth, and most recently possibly either facial migraines or atypical facial pain.  Certain antibiotics have helped improve the symptoms, so ENT feels that there is a focal infection somewhere.  Also had long term exposure to mold and mycotoxins during the past year, but I didn’t test positive to the 13 or so molds during standard allergy skin testing.  My sinuses, nasal passages, and eyes now get extremely irritated by even slight exposure to tobacco smoke, musty odors, etc., often to the point of being extremely painful.  Anyway, after having an upper molar extracted to see if that was the problem, and then taking Tequin for 4 weeks, and still feeling lousy, I’ve been seeing small chunks of bright white solid mucus when I irrigate, and occasionally in the mornings also.  The mucus or discharge is extremely thick and sticky, with a consistency like silly putty, and comes in small clumps or strings, and stretches like silly putty also.  If it was green or brown I’d assume it was from a fungal infection , but it’s white.  I’ve never seen a nasal discharge like this before, and I never had anything like it during the first 10 months of the problem I’m having.  Has anyone had a discharge like this before, or know what might cause it?  I really don’t have much discharge otherwise, but this stuff is really strange in the way it sticks together.                                    Thanks,                                           Craig
