Antibiotics: rate them sinus sufferers!
Question:
Have you visited the web sites sinuses.com and ent-consult? both contain a wealth of information. I wonder how long you are taking the antibiotics? If you have chronic sinusitis, 10 days will never be long enough. Are you being treated by an ENT of an allegist? From my 18 years of sinus problems, I have found that they are the only ones really qualified to treat chronic sinusitis. Even some ENTs need input from the patient. The best thing I have done to treat my sinuses in the last 18 years is to irrigate with a WaterPik and the Grossan nasal attachment. I have no financial interest in the products ,but have found them via the internet and I am healthy now for the first time in over a year. Your investment would be about $65 which is lower than the cost of most medications. I highly recommend trying it. SARLIS @aol.com

Just don’t cut off your nose to spite your face. Have you tried your local vet? Someone told me the antibiotics are cheaper there and less expensive! If only I could remember who. Wug.
Response:
Rating antibiotics is not really a productive strategy. How a particular infection responds to an antiobiotic depends upon what little bug is doing the damage. Also, this evolves over time. I used to be able to get well with ceftin and keflex, about 8 years ago. Since then I have progressed through augmentin to biaxin. I find that for me the best strategy is to prevent sinus infections. For my particular affliction (never ending sinus infection), I have tried the following antibiotics and rate them: 0= Nothing, 10 = Cured! Penicillin V 3 Ceftin 7 (got better, but infection returned) Tetracycline 2 Biaxin 9? (borrowed perscription, only had enough for 4 days, but seemed to be impressive!) Any others? I know this all means nothing, and a professional must be involved, but there is an obvious need for us to help the doctors help us. just mikee.
